shall after Agreement for the same with our Agent or Receiver
General for the time being be made in, & pass thro our Land Office,
& be under the Great-Seal of our Province, as other grants usually
are made
You shall permit Samuel Ogle Esq^re our Lieutenant Gov^r to Re-
turn & Surrender the Warrant which he now has for 5000: Acres of
Land, or to take out as many different Warrants as he shall think fitt
in lieu of the same, contain^g in the whole, the like quantity of 5000
acres, & which method soever he shall choose, I direct each of you to
comply with.

Instructions to Benj. Tasker Esq^re our Agent or Receiver General.

As to the five per Cent paya^l to the Keepers of the Rent-Rolls, you
must observe not to pay it them unless they produce to you as my
Agent, those Rent Rolls as compleat as the Nature of the thing will
admit.
You must receive f^m the Naval Officers the whole 12 p^r hh^d for the
support of Governm^t out of w^ch you are to pay the Gov^r £1000 a
year, & to ace* with me for the same.

A Farther Instruction to Edm^d Jenings Esq^re Judge of our Land
Office in our Province of Maryland.

Whereas it has been doubted, whether by our late Settlement of
Fees, & the Allowance therein of a Fee on every Petition, a Fee may
be taken on every petition for entering a Caveat, or for other pur-
poses or matters in our said Land- Affairs, besides the Fees on peti-
tions for Special warrants. It is our Will & pleasure, th' the Judge
in our s^d Land-Office, shall & may be permitted to take & receive on
every petition, either for Entering Caveats, or other Matters in our
s^d Land-Office, the same Fee as is allowed on petitions by our s^d late
Settlement.

Whereas we have thought fitt by our late Proclamation, to Direct
that no patents or Grants shou'd be made for any Surplusage con-
tain'd in any former Surveys, for w^ch the Possessors shou'd not
make Application within the time directed by our s^d proclamation,
But We considering that it may be necessary notwithstanding the
Elapse of the s^d time, to give permission to the possessors of Land to
Resurvey, & take up the Surplusage, in such manner as may be most
