of a just Regard for the Interest of this Province if any such Equiva-
lent can be found out not too burthensome on Trade; We therefore
think it Our Duty in Consequence of those Steps, not to make an
Offer to his Lordship of such a sum as we cannot reasonably sup-
pose an Equivalent for his Quit Rents and Alienation fines; and
upon the best Information we can obtain; It appears to this house
that four thousand pounds Sterling is not such an Equivalent as
ought to be offered to his Lordship on those Accounts
Signed p Order John Ross Cl Up H.

A Message from the Lower house by Mrs Hooper and Stoddert

we conceive that a short Bill containg the parts which Your Hon-
ours agree to will fully answer the Intention of both houses and be
better than to have the Amendmt made in the former Bill, and there-
fore We now send your Honours such a short Bill past by this house
together with the former Bill that you may have an Opportunity oi
seeing whether the present Bill be agreeable to the Amendments you
proposed in the former
