Present as in the Morning with the Addition of Philip Lee Esqr
& George Plater Esqr
An Engrossed Bill from the Lower House by Mrs Hemsley and
Nedels entituled a Supplementary Act to an Act entituled an Act
laying an Imposition on Negros and Several Sorts of Liquor im-
ported and also on Irish Servants to prevent the importing too great
a number of Irish Papists into this Province thus Subscribed

14th April 1735
Read and assented to by the Lower House of Assembly
Signed p order M Macnemara Ct Lo Ho.

Read & assented to by this house and ordered to be so Subscribed
the Paper Bill so Endorsed is sent to the Lower House by George
Plater Esqr
Read the second Time the Bill entituled an Act ascertaining the
Tare & Gauge of Tobo hhds & to prevent croping cutting & defacing
Tobo taken on Board Ships or Vessels upon Freight and to direct
what allowance shall be made for the Cask and with the following
Amendmts will pass after the Word allowed in 10th Line of 7th Page
insert the following Clause And be it further Enacted by the Author-
ity Advice & Consent afsd that if any Master of a Ship or other
Sea Vessel within this Province or any other Person after the
twenty ninth day of Sepr afd shall receive take or put on board such
Ship or Sea Vessel any hhd or hhds of Tobo exceeding the Gauge
and Dimensions afd limited by this Act every such Master of a
Ship or other Sea Vessel shall incurr the forfeiture & Penalty of six

pds Currt mony for every hhd of tobo which shall be received taken
or put on board by the sd Master or any other Person; one Moiety of
said Penalty to the Lord Proprietary the other half to the Informer
or him or them who will sue for the Same to be recovered by
Action of Debt Bill Plaint or Information wherein no Essoyn, Pro-
tection, or Wager of Law shall be allowed; in 4th Line of Last Side
after the word of to the end of 8th Line to be left out, and the
following Words inserted six pounds of Tobo or Eight pence Current
mony for every hundd pds of Tobo contained therein at the Choice oi
the Receiver
