Government in and over this Province, the Gentleman that
Succeeds may (perhaps) very justly move us to bestow the
same Allowance on him, which by the Measures proposed will
be out of our power to Comply with and may very justly lay
us under his Displeasure which we ought as we Conceive be
very carefull to avoid and we Assure your Honours it was
never our opinions that the Duty of three pence p hhd is a
profitt by right incident to the Station of a Governour, as we
believe will appear by the Resolutions Entered on our journ-
alls upon his Excellency's first Accession to this Government.
