Instructions from the Lord Baltemore and Guilford which
were read and ordered to be Entered as follows Viz.

By the upper house of Assembly

April the 15th 1 720.
His Excellency communicates to you his Lordships late
Instructions herewith sent and desires the sense of your house
of the third fourth and fifth Articles thereof, Desireing you
after you have taken the Copy of the said Instructions for
your perusall that you will Immediately return the Orriginall
and that if your house requires any Explanation of Any part
thereof, Mr Speaker and Such members as he thinks fitt may
attend his Excellency in the Conferrence Chamber in order
thereto.

Orders and Instructions to be Observed and pursued by
John Hart Esqr our Lieutenant Governour of the Province of
Maryland and in his Absence by the first person of our Coun-
cill for the time being.
Given by us at London this 23rd day of March Anno Domini
1718.

1. With these Instructions you will receive our Lycence al-
lowing you the said John Hart to come unto England for
Twelve months, and appointing the person first named of our
Councill During your Absence or your Death to take upon
him the Administration of the Government, His Majestys
permission and approbation thereof haveing been first ob-
tained in Councill March 19: 1718, which with our Lycence
and these our Instructions, before Your Departure out of the
Province, you shall make known and Publish to the members
of our Councell Solemnly called together,

2. You shall before you leave the Province, which you are
to do, if possible Some time within the Space of Three months
after the receipt hereof Appoint Edward Lloyd Esquire the
Second person named of our Councill Keeper of the Great
Scale of the Province, Giving him a Commission for the hold-
ing and Executing the said office, with all the Emoluments
thereunto belonging dureing our pleasure, And in case of his
Death or absence out of the Province or upon his refusall to
accept the same, then you shall Appoint the third person of our
Councill actually residing within the province to Execute the
said office as aforesaid, and upon his Absence the Senior of our
said Councill for the time being.
3. Whereas by Act of Assembly made in the Second year
of our Dominion Entituled an Act Ascertaining the Gauge
