Carving for themselves that the Navall Officers have Charged
eight p Cent for receiving since that is the Sallary allowed
them by Law for their Collections, And we Apprehend his
Lordship or his Agent here Coud not be otherwise than privy
to the manner of the Collection since tis directed in the body
of the Law. And the mony being Actually Collected by the
Navall Officers before his Lordships Acceptance Signifyed
We Cannot think of what service his Lordships own Officers
cou'd be in the Collecting that mony which was but Condition-
ally raised or that such Charge Cou'd be any Surprize upon
his Lordships Agent

But if these reasons will not sufficiently weigh with your
honours to exempt us from the reimbursing my Lord the Eight
p Cent Sallary afd We must humbly desire that your honours
will Consent to have the same referred till next Session being
in hopes that the business of this Session is near a Conclusion

Thereupon the following message Prepared

Saturday June 8th 1717

Gent. On reading your message by Major Wilson & two
others relateing to the Eight p Cent We Agree the Considera-
tion thereof be referred to the next Session of Assembly
Signed p order Jno Beard Cl Up ho.

Sent down by Col Addison who returns & says he Dd it
Mr William Turbutt and Major Thos Emerson from the
lower house with a Supplementary Act to the Act for Limita-
tion of Officers Fees Engrossed Passed by the Lower house,
which his Excy comunicated to Maurice Birchfield Esqr his
Majestys Surveyor Generall And being Read is Assented to
by this house, And Endorsed
Leivt Col Samuel Young Col Thomas Addison Phil Lloyd
Esqr & Colo Richd Tilghman appointed to be of the Comittee
for Laying the Pub: Levy (for this house) with some of the
members of the Lower House

Col John Mackall and two others from the lower house with
a bill for laying the Publick Levy Passed by the Lower house
And being Read is Passed by this house And sent back to the
Lower house.
The following Address being prepared and signed by his
Excellency and this house is sent to the Lower house by Col
