Work on the Stadt house hill done to the Wall Works and
pears and find that his Excellency has Agreed with the Brick-
layer Viz: Thomas Cook for the work done next the Maga-
zine for thirty pounds which we are of opinion is one third part

p. 114

of the work so that the whole Brick work will Amount to
Ninety pounds which with the addition of the thirty pounds
for the two peers will be Sufficient for the whole Which is
Submitted to the house by,
Nathl Hynson
Thos Emerson
Roger Woollford

With which this House Concurrs.
Mr Lee and Mr Parry have the Leave of the house to goe
home.
Esqr Hall from the Upper House Delivers Mr Speaker the
bill for the Securing the Peace of this Province against the
Villainies of imported convicts thus Endorst Viz:

By the Upper House of Assembly June the 3d 1719

It will pass with the Amendment that a clause be added that
it shall not take place till twelve Months from the end of this
Sessions.

Thereupon the Question was Put whether the bill shall pass
with the Amendments Proposed or whether the limitation of
time be for Six months Only.
Resolved it be Six Months and ordered the following Mes-
sage be prepared Viz:

By the Lower House of Assembly June the 3d 1719
May it Please your Honours.
We conceive that there is no Necessity for allowing twelve

months for this Act to take place it no ways relating to trade
but is merely for preserving the Peace of the Province which
will be so much endangered by such Convicts that if the
peace be not more early Secured against them We doubt many
of the Honest inhabitants will be glad to Quit their Settle-
ments here that they may Live more Secure in some Other part
of the World amongst honester Neighbours. We therefore
pray your Honours concurrence that if the bill may not pass
as at first Proposed that at least it may take place in Six
Months.
