The following Message being Prepared is Ordered to be
Sent to the Lower House Viz.

By the uper House of Assembly

June 3d 1719
Gentl. By your Message of the first Instant you Insist that
we Concurr with you in regulating Officers ffees as Proposed
in your Bill we again Acquaint you that It is Our Opinion
that the Proper time for that Affair will be when his Ldship is
of Age & is psonally here (as we are Informed he Intends to
be) for then we Can Argue the reasonableness of things and

whatever is Done will be Lasting. Whereas if any thing be
done now it will be Liable to the Exceptions of Interested
psons & so our Labours become fruitless, besides we have no
reason to hope that his Excy Can Allow of anything that may
be [done] at this time from the reasons he gives in Our Mes-
sage of the first Instant.
Gentl, tho we are of Opinion with you that some Offices are
Grievously Burthensome And want a Regulation yet we think
it Improper to Eenter upon it at this time for the Reasons
abovesaid & therefore Recomend it to Your Serious Con-
sideration to Bring in a Bill to Continue the Act relating to
Officers Fees for so short a time rather than by Letting it
Drop Involve the Country in Difficultys the Consequence
Whereof we are not able to Determine

A Supplement to the Act Relating to Servants & Slaves
being read the first & Second times by Especial Order and will
pass & so Endorsed and sent to the Lower House by Col Ward

ing the Peace of this pvince against the Villianys of imported
Convicts
Passed by that House
