thousand pounds of Tobacco, Therefore I humbly Crave the
favour of your Honrs that the said fine may be remitted. And
in so doing I your Petitioner shall as in duty ever be bound to
pray
Thomas Mackeel

On the back whereof was endorsed as foil Viz. Upon the
Complaint of Thomas Mackeel the within Petitioner unto me
the Subscriber who was formerly Sherriffe of Dorchester
County the said Mackeel Complained to me that John Ed-

mondson who was my Deputy had sumoned him for a Jury-
man to attend at Annapolis in the Provinciall Court and that
he thought it was very hard to serve then for Declared that he
had served every Court in the said Provinciall in Major Woll-
fords time for almost two years past And upon the Complaint
afd I did partly pmise to Excuse the said Mackeel if I coud
get another but believe my Deputy through forgettfulness
did return the sd Mackeel as a Juror.

By the Provinciall Court April the 10. 1717.

The within named Thomas Mackeel is referred by the
Justices of this Court to his Excellency the Govr & honble
Councill for his relief the Court having Examined into the
Truth of his Petition
Test John Beale Clk.

On Consideration of the Premises tis Resolved that the fine
be remitted the Petitioner And that the follo Endorsmt be made
thereon Viz.
June the 5th 1717

This Petition Read & granted by his Excellency in the uper
house of Assembly.
