276 Assembly Proceedings, April 22-May 10, 1718.

Resolved in the affirmative by the Majority of Votes, and,
Ordered that Samuell Young Esqr Publick Treasurer of
the Western Shore pay unto his Lpps Agent the Eight p Cent
in Dispute this Sessions and Ordered the following Message
be prepared viz.

By the Lower House of Assembly May the 10th 1718.
May it please your honours
We Doubt not but the reasons We have already offered in
our former Messages this Sessions together with the remark
of his Lpps having assented to a Law that allows the deduction
of the Eight p Cent will Sufficiently evince how farr the
matter of right is in our Favour but this house taking into
Consideracon his Lpps continued Goodness in Assenting to &
promoting such good Laws as tend to our Comon Benefit and
the many Advantages We reap by his Lpps Present happy
Administracon cannot in gratitude contend with his Lpp where
his and our Intrest are only in Dispute and therefore We have
ordered the Publick Treasurers to allow and pay the Deduc-
tion made on Acct of that Sallary taking Leave on this Occa-
sion to Assure your Honours tht as We shall allways endeav-
our inviolably to defend the Country's Right so we shall
allways be more easily moved by the Impulse of gratitude to-
wards our Benefactors than by any other politick Motives
whatsoever.

They return and Say they delivered it.
Colo Young and four more from the upper house deliver
Mr Speaker the Representacon drawn up by the Conference
to the Lords Baltemore and Guilford thus Endorst viz:

By the upper house of Assembly May the 10th 1718.

Read and Approved of.

Which was read in this house and approved of and ordered
to be entred as follows viz:

Att a Conference appointed by the upper and lower houses
of Assembly for the drawing a representacon of the Principall
