Collo Holland from the upper house delivers Mr Speaker
The Bill for laying the Publick Levy for the year 1718 Thus
endorst viz:

By the upper house of Assembly May the 9th 1718.

Read and will pass. Signed p Order.

Which was read in this house and past for engrosing
An engrost Bill laying the publick Levy for the year 1718,
was read and Ordered to be thus endorst viz:

May the 9th 1718.

Read and Assented to by the lower House of Assembly &
Signed p Order

And Sent to the upper house by Colo Scot & Capt ffrisby.
They return and Say they delivered it
This House taking into Consideracon the great Expence

p. 102

that the Roman Catholicks and their Adherents have sub-
jected his Excy the Governour to by their unjust Complts agt
him which were founded on no other Cause than his Zealously
espousing the Intrest of this Province agt their Attempts
Resolve that his Excy ought not to be at the sole Charge of
Defending the Publick. And therefore Ordered tht Samuell
Young Esqr Publick Treasurer of the Western Shore pay unto
his Excy the Governour or Order Two hundred pounds Sterl.
And that [a] message be prepared to the uppr house desiring
their Honours' Concurrence and An Address to his Excy
desiring his favourable Acceptance thereof as a token of our
Gratitude.
Thereupon Ordered the following Message be prepared
Viz.
By the Lower house of Assembly May 9th 1718.

May it please your Honours
This house taking into Consideracon the great Expence
