And Sent to the Upper house by Mr Beale & Mr Hopkins.
They return & say they delivered it. Colo Young from the
Upper house delivers Mr Speaker the Bill declaring the right
of three Lots in the City of Annapolis thus endorst viz:

By the Upper house of Assembly May 7th 1718.

Read the first Time and will Pass. Signed p Order.

Which was read and Past for engrosing, & Sent to the
Comittee of Laws to be engrost.
The following Message with Mr Carroll's Answer relating
to the 12d p hhd was prepared viz.

By the lower House of Assembly May the 7th 1718.
May it Please your Honours
Pursuant to your Message of the 5th Instant relating to the
Continuance of the Payment of the I2d p hhd by the Act made
in June 1715 till the 29th of Septr following We did Send for
Mr Charles Carroll late Agent for the Proprietor of this
Province at the time of the making that Act who Accordingly
Appeared before this House & being Demanded to give an

Account of the Disposition of that Duty and whether the
Lord Benedict or his Exrs ever accepted or Signified their
Intentions to Accept thereof on the Consideracon it was raised
he Promised to Send his Answer thereto in writing this Day
and thereupon Sent us the Annexed answer whereby your
Honrs may Perceive how farr that 12d p hhd has been accepted
& how applied.
As to Mr Carroll's intimating the Rents being Attacht in
Mony it was a thing unaskt from him for We are well assured
that the Person for whose use those rents were Attached
never designed anything but what was honourable as may
appear by Publick Letters to the Severall Sherriffs for that
Purpose and believe none of the persons whose rents were so
Attached will Sustain any Damage on that Account.

Coll Maxwell and Major Emerson.
