Capt Daniel Mariartee & Mr Peter Taylor with a Bill for
Relief of sundry poor Prisoners in Ann Arundell County
with the follo Endorsement Viz

By the Lower House of Assembly.
May the 7th 1 718.

On reading your Endorsment on the within bill this House
are well Informed that the Prisoners therein Mentioned have
not any thing wherewith to pay their Debts and that to Dis-
charge them only from the Debts they are now in Prison for
And Subject them to be Taken and arrested again for other
Debts Owing from them would be a Partiall pceeding and an
Apparent Injustice to those at whose Suit the Prisoners are
now in Custody and as to the sherriffs Fees this House are
Unwilling to Burthen the Publick with the payment of any
of them least by that means other Sherriffs for the future may
Claim the Like on Prisoners being Discharged by the Legis-
lature, and we further Observe that tis not a greater Injustice
to the Sherriff to loose his Fees than the Creditors their Debts

Endorsed Viz.

This Bill Read again will Pass. But It is Earnestly Recom-
ended to the lower house to Consider of some Recompence to
