By the Committee of Elections and Privileges
October the 7th 1714.

We find Mr John Hammond upon due Examination to be
duly elected a Member for Ann Arundel County but the
Sheriff hath not sent the writ according to the Tenor thereof

By the Committee of Elections and Privileges
October the 7th 1714.

We find Mr William Blay upon due Examination to be duly
elected a Member for Kent County according to Law.

Mr Thomas Brookes Junr a Member for Prince George's
County appeared this Day in the House.
Colo Hoskins and Major Walter Storey are sent along
with Mr Phelps Naval Officer of Potowmack to see him prove
his Accounts.
They return and say they see him prove his Accounts.
Mr Samuel Worthington from the Committee of Laws de-
livers Mr Speaker an Answer prepared to his Excy's Speech
which being read was approved of by the House and ordered
to be entered as foll. Viz.

October the 7th 1714

May it please your Excellency
We the Delegates of this Province now assembled beg
Leave to return your Excy our unfeigned Thanks for your
most favourable Speech The valuable Proposals therein made
(being of such Concern to the Province in General) cannot
but make a deep Impression upon all who value or regard the
Welfare of it. As an Instance of our ready Obedience to her
Majesty's Commands and your Excy's Request we shall apply
ourselves with our utmost Diligence in the Examination of
the Laws of the Province in Order to the Amendment of such
as shall want it in the most expeditious manner and with as
little Expence as possible. The Encouragement of Schools
for the propagation of Learning the Advancement of the
