Colo Coursey and Colo Greenfield from the Honble Council
enter the House and deliver Mr Speaker the ingrossed Bill
for relieving the Inhabitants of this Province from some Ag-
grievances in the Prosecution of Suits at Law with the foll.
Message Viz.

By the Council in Assembly
July 2d 1714

We do own that the Multiplicity of Messages tends very
much to the Delay of Business. We are sorry we have any
Occasion thereof which would have been prevented had you
taken Notice of the Recommendation sent you in Favour of
the Attorneys practising in the County Courts immediately

after the Amendments proposed to the Bill and even before
they were debated in your House The Merchants in England
may justly complain that for want of due encouragement given
such Attorneys they cannot find fit Persons to prosecute their
Actions in these Courts wherefore we must insist upon the
Clause recommended to be added which is the only Delay
given to the Bill.

Colo Edward Lloyd and Colo William Holland from the
Honble Council enter the House and acquaint Mr Speaker
That his Excellency very well approves of the Message sent
by Mr Stoddart and other Members in Relation to the House
and Rent.
Colo Samuel Young and Colo Thomas Addison from the
Honble Council enter the House and deliver Mr Speaker the
Bill for reviving an Act for Limitation of Officers Fees and
for supplying some Defects therein with the following In-
dorsement Viz.

July 2d 1714

This Bill being read and debated it is remarked that the
explanatory Law thereto is omitted to be revived It is thought
the Fee proposed to the Sheriff for keeping a Prisoner twenty
four Hours in Custody and finding him Victuals is too little
Therefore it is recommended that the Sheriff be allowed twenty
Pounds of Tobo p Day for the first Month and 10 lb of Tobo a
Day after and that the Sheriff may have Fees from convicted
Criminals but that no such Fee be charged to the Counties.
Recommended that the Fees likewise to be allowed the Clerk
of the Council in Assembly by this Board on private Bills be
likewise on Execution with your Clerk's Fees The Penalty of
