The following was returned in Answer to the Message sent
from the Honble Council by Colo Holland and Colo Greenfield
yesterday about the Statutes of England Viz.

Ist July 1714
We agree that our Answer to your Message of the 28th June
by Colo Holland and Colo Young was not categorical but the
Matter therein contained being of very great Concern to the
Country and that mature Consideration is requisite for instanc-
ing the particular Statutes, We have thought fit to refer it to
the Considn of next Assembly, to which we pray your Excy
and Honours Concurrence. We return your Excy and Hon-
ours our hearty Thanks for expressing your Willingness to
bring this Sessions to a speedy Conclusion.

A Bill for laying an Imposition of 3d p Hhd on Tobo for
defraying the Charge of the Province. Read the first and
2nd Time by especial Order and ordered to be thus indorsed
Viz.

The aforegoing Message and Bill were sent up to the Council
by Colo Philip Hoskins, Mr Kenelm Chiseldine Mr Charles
Wright and Capt. Trippe.
They return and say they delivered the same
An ingrossed Bill for relieving the Inhabitants of this Prov-
ince from some Aggrievances in the Prosecution of suits at
Law was read and assented to by the House of Delegates and
ordered to be indorsed thus Viz.
