Which being read, it is Ordered That the said Bill be re-
vised and amended accordingly; and that the Jurisdiction in
that Case be lodged in the County Courts.
Colo Edward Lloyd, Colo Ennalls, Colo Coursey, Colo Young,
Philemon Lloyd Esqr Colo Thomas Addison, Colo Whittington,
and John Dorsey Esq. entered the House and delivered Mr
Speaker the following Viz.

Mr Speaker,
The Bill now laid before you for your Considn is an Act
passed in Virginia for the Encouragement of the Tobo Trade ;
and there being several useful Paragraphs in the said Bill
which may have a Relation to the improving the Tobo of this
Province and preventing the Frauds of designing Men who
have not the general Good of this Province at Heart; it is
thought fit by the Governor and Council to recommend it to
your Perusal.

Then the House met again according to Adjournment.
Present as on Saturday, except Mr John Fendall who being
sick is excused for this Day.
A Bill for relieving the Inhabitants of this Province from
some Aggrievances in the Prosecution of Suits at Law read
the first and second Time and is committed for Amendments
to the Committee of Laws and that they insert a Clause to
give the County Courts Jurisdiction to hold Cognizance of
any Action on any Bill, Bond or other Specialty wherein there
is not due to Balance above a £100 Ster. or thirty thousand
Pounds of Tobo Provided that nothing therein shall exclude
the Provincial Court to hold Plea where the Balance amounts
to £20 or 5000 lbs of Tobo.
A Motion being made and the Question put whether the
Clause in the said Bill for allowing Attorneys in the County
Courts 200 lb of Tobo fee in Actions where the Demand ex-
ceeds £10 Ster. or 2000 lb of Tobo shall be left out of the
same, It is Resolved in the Affirmative by Majority of Votes.
Ordered That the said Committee of Laws leave out of the
Bill the said Clause.
