The House adjourns till two of the Clock in the Afternoon

Saturday 2 O'Clock in the Afternoon.

The House met again according to Adjournmt Present as
in the Morning.

Colo Samuel Young, and Colo Thomas Addison from her
Majesty's Honourable Council enter the House and deliver
Mr Speaker the Bill for reviving an Act of Assembly of this
Province entituled an Act for relieving the Inhabitants of this
Province from some Aggrievances in the Prosecution of Suits
at Law with the following Endorsement Viz.

By the Council in Assembly
June 26th 1714

This Bill being read at the Board and the Act for relieving
the Inhabitants of this Province from some Aggrievances in
the Prosecution of Suits at Law there seems to be a great
Inconvenience in the said Law as it now stands for that if the
Creditor has his Debtor's Obligation for £250 and all is paid
but a Sum under £20, Now by the Words of this Law the
Pltff if he sues in the Provl Court will be nonsuit the real Debt
being under twenty Pounds Money and so in Tobo And if
he sues in the County Courts which have not Jurisdiction
above an £100 or thirty thousand Pounds of Tobo that Court
will not take Cognizance thereof So that the Creditor is
wholly without Remedy Wherefore the Question was put
whether this Bill should pass or that the Act should be revised
with a proper Clause added to supply the aforesaid Defect in
Justice and it was unanimously advised that the Act be revised
and a proper Clause added to Supply the aforesd Defect in
Justice. Wherefore we do recommend the Revising the said
Law and that a proper Clause be added for supplying the
Defect aforesaid and that that Part of the Preamble of Persons
riding armed may be omitted

Signed p Order W Bladen Cl. Conl
