And whereas several Inconveniencys have arisen to our
Governments in our Plantations by Gifts and Presents made
to our Governours by the Assemblys It is our express Will
and Pleasure That neither you our Governour Lieutt Gov-
erneur Commander in chief President of our Council of our
Province of Maryland for the Time being do give your or their
Consent to the passing of any Law or Act for any Gift or
present to be made to you or them by the Assembly And that
neither you or they do receive any Gift or present from the
Assembly or others upon any Account or in any manner
whatsoever upon pain of our highest Displeasure and of being
recalled from that our Governmt Excepting that Whereas
there is no House appointed or sett apart by us for our said
Governour & the Assembly of our province having upon the
Arrival of John Seymour Esqr our late Governour there
passed an Act for raising a further Revenue of 3d p hhd on
Tobo exported as an Additional Allowance to him for his
maintenance during his Government over & above his Ordi-
nary Allowance Out of the Duty of two Shill p Hhd on Tobo
Exported, We are pleased to permitt the Assembly to repass
the like Act for your better maintenance as also assign you
an House or Rent for the same Provided the said Act be
passed and House or Rent assigned to you for an unlimitted
time or during your Continuance in that Government

And We further do direct and require that this our Royal
Will and Pleasure be communicated at their first meeting
after your Arrival and Entered in the Registers of our Council
& Assembly, that all Persons whom It may concern may
govern themselves accordingly.

His Excellency was likewise pleased to communicate and
sent the two aforegoing Instructions to the House of Delegates
by Col Edward Lloyd Col Thomas Ennalls Lt Col Samuel
Young Col Thos Greenfield Philemon Lloyd Esqr Col Addison
& John Dorsey Esqr who return & say they delivered the same
Then the Council Adjourned until nine of the Clock to
morrow morning
