And the said Oaths being administred to him by the hon-
ble Col Holland Chief Justice of the Provincial Court He took
them at this Board in presence of the two Delegates afd
Subscribed the Test and Abjuration and took the Oath of
Clerk of the House of Delegates

After which the Board adjourned till ten of the Clock to
morrow morning

Wednesday June the 23d 1714
The Council Sate Present as yesterday
The Honble Col Thos Ennalls Col Thos Greenfield John
Hall Esqr & John Dorsey Esqr members of her Majesty's
Council of this Province came & took the Several Oaths
appointed by Law and Signed the Abjuration Oath & Test
and afterwards took the Oath of Councellours in this Province
& then were added to the Board
Ordered that the Treaty of peace Navigation and Commerce
with Spain be published after the most Solemn Manner
The Board adjourned for two Hours

Post Meridiem
The Council Sate Present as in the morning
Then his Excellency laid before them a certain Act of As-
sembly lately made in the Colony of Virginia Entituled an Act
for preventing frauds in Tobo payments and for the more Effect-
ual improving the Staple of tobacco. Which [was] read to them
& the deliberate Consideration thereof was by his Excellency
recommended to the Council and whether It may not be fitt to
propose such a Law to the Consideration of the Assembly

Lt Col Tilghman Ward & nine more of the Delegates
brought from their House the following answer to his Excel-
lency's Speech Viz.

To his Excellency John Hart Esqr Capt General & Gov-
erneur in chief of her Majesty's Province of Maryland

May it please Your Excellency
We the Delegates of this Province now convened in a
general Assembly return your Excellency our most humble &
hearty thanks for the compassionate Concern you are pleased
to express at the misfortunes we have lain under in respect
to Trade and for your Excellency's so tenderly recommending
to us the consideration of a remedy
