By the House of Delegates
6th Nov. 1713.

The above Petition read and it is the Opinion of this House
that the Rector Govr and Visitors of the Freeschool ought to
take Care to preserve the Library and to appoint a Library
keeper and pay him out of their Stock being as this House
conceives very useful to the Master and Scholars as well as
the Clergy
As to the other Part relating to Roman Catholicks this
House pray the Honble President and Council if such an Evil
appears to endeavour to suppress it.

They return & say they delivered the same.
The Honble John Hall Esqr
from the Council enters the
House and delivers Mr Speaker Bill for Relief of John Smith
of Cecil County.
Bill supplying a Defect in Jeremiah Sulivant's will both
read and agreed to by the Council
Read again in the House and past for ingrossing
The Honble Colo Tilghman from the Council enters the
House and delivers Mr Speaker Bill for speedy conveying
publick Letters and Packets and Bill for Direction of the
Sheriff's Office. Both agreed to by the Council
Read again in the House and past for ingrossing
The Honble Colo Greenberry Colo Tilghman, and John
Hall Esq. from the Council enter the House and deliver Mr
Speaker Bill to restrain the ill Practice used by Sheriffs in
executing Writs of fieri facias and Venditioni exponas. In-
dorsed.
By the Council in Assembly
November 6th 1713

Resolved That this Bill pass with the following Amend-
ments Viz.

That if upon a fieri facias issued the Defendant will, upon
Oath shew all his Personal Estate so that the Sheriff may levy
what Part thereof the Creditor or his Attorney shall think fit
to direct the Creditor having Liberty to name two Appraisers
and the Debtor two more upon their Oaths to be administred
by the Sheriff to appraise the same. The Creditor shall be
obliged for Want of Buyers to take the Goods at their Ap-
praisment; this Law not to be deemed to extend to Negroes
