Afterwards Colo Tilghman from the Council entered the
House and delivered Mr Speaker the same Petition thus
indorsed

The Council assent thereto provided the said Samuel Berry

Ordered the following Petition be entered Viz.
To the Honble House of Delegates.
The humble Petition of Henry Hall, Edward Butler,
Jonathan White, and Daniel Mainadier Clerks
That whereas the publick Library is observed to go to
Decay your Petitioners therefore humbly beg your Honours
to take it into Consideration and use such Methods for the
Preservation of it as to your Honours shall seem most neces-
sary in Order to which we conceive it convenient to appoint
a Library keeper who may be obliged to take Care of it and
that he may be encouraged so to do to make him some
Allowance for the same And further to take Notice of the
Methods used by the Roman Priests to pervert her Majesty's
Subjects from the ffaith of the Church of England to that of
Rome especially in the City where is the Seat of Government
and your Petrs shall ever pray &u
