Mr Worthington & Major Hammond brought up the Case
of Charles Carrol Esqr & Mr Wm Bladen
The Case of William Bladen Esqr & Charles Carrol humbly
represented to the honourable the House of Delegates for
their Consideration & Redress
The said Wm & Charles on the 22d day of May 1705
amongst other Lotts & Houses purchased of Edwd Dorsey
decd three Houses in this City lying close together on a place
called Bloomsberry Square which Houses have ever since
been in the Service of the publick for keeping of Arms &
Ammunition &c.
That the said Wm & Charles have never yet received one
penny for the Rent of the sd Houses there being Eight years
& an half due this November
Tho they must acknowledge Saml Young Esqr Treasurer
of the Western Shoar offered to pay them this year £15 on
account of the said Rent but they thought not proper to
receive the same 'till the Account of the whole Rent was
adjusted
That they cannot reasonably think that the Justice & Honour
of the House intended that £ 15 as a compensation of the
whole time the sd three Houses have been kept in the publick
Service Whereas if they had been left to the disposal of the
said Wm & Charles They could make at least £15 p Annum
of them and such a Loss is what they hope neither the House
or even any single member thereof will think in Justice,
Equity or good Conscience fit for them to sustain by having
their Estate in the Queen & Country's Service
