Saturday receive your message in relation to her Majesty's
Commands about the Fines for Ordinary Lycences the Con-
sideration whereof having lain before you from the Beginning
of this Session It seems unreasonable you should Circumscribe
us in the time for Consideration thereof & for Examination
of the Journal of the Committee of Accompts It being every
whit as much a Duty incumbent on us as your House to see
the Allowances therein are just & rightly computed therefore
cannot but resent such Usage
As we think ourselves proper Judges of the Business
before this Board we did at the Beginning of this Session
knowing it was very considerable direct the Clerk of our Board
who has been long a Servant to the Country & much indis-
posed in his Health to imploy a Clerk Assistant which notwith-
standing your assertion we find has been practised & allowed
in former Sessions of Assembly Accordingly we swore Mr
Benjamin Tasker who has been diligent in that Service and
therefore desire you will order him Satisfaction — the Clerk of
