Journal till Saturday noon the 7th Instt nor did we till late on
Saturday receive your message in relation to her Majesty's
Commands about the Fines for Ordinary Lycences the Con-
sideration whereof having lain before you from the Beginning
of this Session It seems unreasonable you should Circumscribe
us in the time for Consideration thereof & for Examination
of the Journal of the Committee of Accompts It being every
whit as much a Duty incumbent on us as your House to see
the Allowances therein are just & rightly computed therefore
cannot but resent such Usage

As we think ourselves proper Judges of the Business
before this Board we did at the Beginning of this Session
knowing it was very considerable direct the Clerk of our Board
who has been long a Servant to the Country & much indis-
posed in his Health to imploy a Clerk Assistant which notwith-
standing your assertion we find has been practised & allowed
in former Sessions of Assembly Accordingly we swore Mr
Benjamin Tasker who has been diligent in that Service and
therefore desire you will order him Satisfaction — the Clerk of

this Board makes no pretence therefore to any reward and
when by Inspection of the Journal of the Committee of
Accompts Anno 1704 you find the mistake of your Assertion
the Clerk of this Board being then allowed for a Clerk
Assistant we hope we shall have no further occasion to press
you in this matter

Col Holland & Mr Hall came and were added to the Board
Mr Tyler & three more brought seven Engrossed Bills
assented to by the House of Delegates Viz.
A Bill for the Relief of Jno Smith of Cecil County in regu-
lating a mistake in a certain Deed of Bargain and Sale from
the Devisees of Philip Lynes Esqr to him made
A Bill for Supplying a Defect in the last Will & Testament
of Jeremiah Sullivan.
A Bill for more speedy conveying publick Letters & packetts
& defraying the Charge thereof & to prevent the Abuses of
breaking open & concealing any Letters whatsoever
A Bill to restrain the ill practices used by Sherriffs in
taking Goods by fieri facias & selling them by Venditioni
exponas
A Bill for the Naturalization of Stephen Rich of Queen
Anns County Carpenter & his Children John Lornee of Dor-
chester County Weaver & his Children & Samuel Berry of
Kent County Carpenter
