Ending at Christmas Lady Day Midsummer and Michaelmas
last & to his Account of the one penny p hhd on Tobo Exported
at Michaelmas last
Mr Dansey makes Oath to his Receivers Accts of the 9d &
3d p hhd ending the 16th October last
Mr Dansey had Warrant to pay the Presidents dues.
The Petition of Edward Dawson complaining of the great
Hardships he lyes under by reason of the Recognizance he
Entred into for the good Behaviour of his negro Hannibal
during his Residence in this Province and praying whereas
the sd Hannibal had been of good Behaviour for about twelve
months without any Complaints against him and he being
obliged to sell him prays that he may be discharged from the
sd Recognizance. Ordered that the said Recognizance be
vacated

The Council Sate Present as yesterday
Mr Broom & Major Woolford brought up two Bills Viz
A Bill for the more Speedy conveying of publick Letters and
Packetts of this Province and defraying the Charge thereof
& to prevent the breaking open & concealing any Letters
whatsoever

And a Bill of Directions for the Sherriff's Office of this
Province, & for the more easy payment of the publick &
County Levys which were both Endorsed Read the first Time
& will pass and sent to the House by Col Tilghman
Col Blay and five more brought up the Bill for restraining
the ill practices of Sherriffs on executing fieri facias Which
was read again & Endorsed will pass
Major Sprigg and Mr Peregrine Frisby brought up the
Petition about the publick Library
Mr James Lloyd & Major Sprigg brought up a Bill ascer-
taining what shall be allowed to Grand & petit Jurors
Capt Scott & Mr Codd brought up the Petition of Samuel
Berry of Kent County Carpenter praying a Bill might pass for
his naturalization, with the resolve of the House of Delegates
thereon that he be added in the Bill already agreed to by this
Board whereto they pray the Councill's Concurrence
Which was readily Granted upon his taking the Oaths to
the Government and Col Tilghman sent to the House there-
with

in taking Goods by fieri facias & selling them by Venditioni
