This Petition is recommended to the House of Delegates.

6th Nov. 1712

Read in the House and Resolved the Committee of Laws
prepare and bring in a Bill to remedy the Aggrievance com-
plained of in the Petition and that a Clause be inserted in such
Bill that no Custom House Officer, Sheriff or Clerk or any of
their Deputies live in or keep his Office in an Ordinary or
keep Ordinary himself.

The Honble John Dorsey Esqr enters the House and de-
livers Mr Speaker a Petition of Mr Colegate, Mr Hammond,
Mr Talbot and Mr Stevenson Recommended from the Honble
Council
Which being read and debated is by the House rejected.
Mr William Bladen's Request praying an Allowance for
Paper, Wax, Wafers, Pens &ta used as Clerk of the Council
since the year 1704 Read and by the House rejected.
The Honble Colo Whittington enters the House and de-
livers Mr Speaker the following Message & several Papers
relating thereto.

Novr 6th 1712

The Honble President and this Board observing how fre-
quently the publick Arms are destroyed and imbezzled as
also the Ammunition sold or otherwise decayed so that it
often happens not to be fit for Service and that thro' the Mis-
management in the keeping and preserving the same and
especially that both the Arms and Ammunition are liable to
many unforeseen Casualties upon the Death of the Com-
mander in Chief of any County where the same are lodged as
may appear by the Petition and Depositions herewith sent
you we cannot but think it highly worthy the Consideration
of this General Assembly to appoint a twelve ffoot House
near the County Court Houses in each respective County
wherein to lodge the Arms and Ammunition belonging to
each County so that they may be more easily viewed (as well
by the Justices of the County Courts if they see fit) as also
the Commander in Chief of each respective County which
