A Bill to confirm Lands to Major John Hawkins & Henry
Wright
A Bill to confirm a Deed or Release from Susannah Tracy
to James Heath of Ann Arundel County Gentl noted — read
in your House the first & second time — And the following
Message Viz.

By the House of Delegates
Octobr 30th 1711

This House have considered & Debated the Message and
Instructions relating to the Sealing the Copys of the Laws
sent to great Brittain & cannot see any Reason to induce
them to recede from their former Resolve of paying but for
two Seals every Session and that only for publick Acts And

as for Seals for private Acts have resolved the publick ought
not to pay for any but the Persons in whose favour such
private Acts pass ought to pay the Same
We have likewise considered & debated the Message re-
lating to building Houses for Magazines in every County.
And have resolved upon the Question put that such Houses
are not necessary or convenient to be built but that they will
the next Session of Assembly consider of some method to
preserve the Arms and Ammunition

The Bill proposed by the House for confirming the Dis-
charge of poor Debtors being read at the Board — It is their
opinion that whatsoever has been done in pursuance of that
Law & until such Time as her Majesty's Disassent thereto
was published here, was & is well done & ought not to be
disputed by any of the Courts of this Province provided the
Directions of the sd Law have "been duly complyed with
And therefore they do not think the Bill now proposed any
wise necessary But if the House are of the contrary opinion
resolved the Consideration thereof be referred to the next
Session after the Arrival of a Governour.
And the same was remarked on the back of the said Bill
The Bill ascertaining the Gauge of Tobo Hhds & to prevent
the cropping Tobo was read the first & Second Times & so
Endorsed will pass.

The Bill impowering Commrs to lay out Lands for the Nan-
ticoke Indians read the first Time and recommended that the
Lands be Vested in some persons and their Heirs capable of
taking for the use of those Indians the publick not being so
& that there be a Clause in the Law to barr minors Femes
Coverts &c And to oblige the Commrs to return their Proceed-
ings to be recorded in the Secretary's Office & Somersett
County Court
