24 Assembly Proceedings, March 26- April 15, 1707.

Journal.

By the Govr & Councill in Assembly
Aprill the 3d 1707.

It is recomended to the house that before they come to a
finall Resolution concerning the Removall of St Marys County
Court house they will hear Mr Cheseldyn and Mr Cornelius
White Inhabitants of that County.

Then was Read the Petition of Mr George Harris Praying
leave to bring in a Bill for the Sale of Some Lands late of Mr
Charles Ridgley of Prince Georges County for the Satisfaction
of £52..12s..6d to the said Harris and it was recomended to
the house of Delegates that Leave be given him to bring in
Such Bill.

The Petition of Mr Richard Bennett Mr Matthew Tilghman
Ward Mr Robt Finly Mr Danl Sherwood and Mr Philemon
Lloyd Praying that whereas the People of their County (of
Talbott) were Divided in opinion as to the Placing their Court
House the Sincerity of each Partys Pretentions might be tryed
by his Excny giving Leave to each Party to Collect by way of
Subscription any suine of Money or Tobacco for the building
of a Court house and that the greater Sume of money or
Tobacco so raised may be applyed to the building a Court
house at Either of the two Places for which the said Sume is
raised.
The said Petition is approved and It is Recomended that the
house will appoint a Conference thereon. The two afore-
mentioned Petitions Sent to the house by Mr Tench & Col
Holland.
Mr Muschamp and Mr Beale came from the house with the
following Message Viz.

By the house of Delegates
April 3d 1707.

In answer to the Proposal of hearing Mr Cheseldyn & Mr
White as to the Removall of the Court house of St Marys
County, This house came to a Resolve that the County Cort
shall still remain & be kept where it is now at St Marys and
therefore there is no need of hearing Mr Cheseldyn & Mr
White to that matter.
