that four pounds of tobo be taken for the four years and two
pounds of tobo for every year
The Board adjourns 'till to morrow morning Eight of the
Clock

Saturday September the 30th 1704
Council Sate Present as yesterday

Came Mr Coursey from the House who says they are ready
to join his Excy and this Board in the congratulatory Address
to her Majesty and desire such Address may be prepared
Mr Hodson Mr Ennalls Mr Stone bring up five Engrossed
bills Viz.
A Bill for punishmt of Blasphemy prophane Swearing &c.
A Bill for continuing the Land Law &c
A Bill for Speedy Tryal of Criminals &c.
A Bill for encouragement of Tillage and Relief of poor
Debtors &c.
A Bill Continuing the Petitionary Act relating to Free
School
A Bill to prevent the Growth of Popery which were assented
to by her Majesties hon:ble Council
Mr Philips brings up a bill impowering a Committee to lay
the Levy which was read twice and passed for Engrossing and
sent to the House by Mr Sanders
Col Thos Smith brings from the House

By the House of Delegates

September the 3oth 1704

We having Settled the Journal of Accounts find therein
Tobo due to his Excy for the great Seal and otherwise we
therefore Desire to know whether it will be more accept-
able to his Excy to have the Tobo in specie or mony for the
same out of the treasure of this Province at one penny p pound

And that since there is Mony in Bank and the publick Levy
like to be very high and hard upon the poorer sort we Pro-
pose to pay the honble Council and Delegates of this Session
some part of their hundred and forty pounds of Tobo p diem
in mony at one penny p pound if your Honours are pleased
to Concur with us therein which we desire because it is hard
to procure mony to bear our Expences here
