An Act for uniting Newport Hundred now part of King
and Queens Parish to William & Mary Parish in Charles
County.

Whereas It is represented to this present Generall Assem-
bly by the Inhabitants of William and Mary parish that the
said parish is so small that the fforty pounds of tobacco per
poll is not sufficient to Maintaine a Minister in the said parish
the same not Exceeding ten Thousand pounds of Tobacco
per Annum and that the said Hundred of newport is by
the Division of Charles and St Maries County's Left in the
said Charles County and that the said Parish Called King
and Queens Parish without the said Hundred Called New
Port hundred is sufficient to maintain a Minister being of
Greater Vallue then the said William and Mary Parish & the
said Hundred Called Newport Hundred to the same adjoyned
& therefore Humbly prayed that the said Hundred Called

newport Hundred might be united to and made parcell of
the said William and Mary parish.
Be It therefore Enacted by the Queens most Excellent
Majesty by & with the advice and Consent of her Majestys
Governour Councill and Assembly of this province and the
Authority of the same that from and after the first day of
June next Ensuing after the end of this prsent session of As-
sembly the said Hundred of Newport shall be divided and
taken from the said Parish Called King and Queens Parish
in St. Mary's County and be added and united unto Wm And
Mary Parish in Charles County in which the same lyes and
shall from and after the time aforesaid by Vertue of this Act
be deemed adjudged reputed and taken as part and parcell
of the said Wm and Mary parish and not as parte or parcell
of King and Queens parish in St Maries County and that the
Inhabitants thereof shall have and Enjoy all benefitts and
previlledges Equall wth any other the Inhabitants of the sd
Parish any Law statute usage or Custom to the Contrary
Notwithstanding.
