Post Meridiem. The House met again according to Ad-
journment.
Being called over were present as in the Morning.
The Message from the Council of the 1 2th Instant by Colo
Jenkins was read this Day and ordered to be entered Viz.

By his Excellency the Governor and Council in Assembly
April 12th 1706.

Some Persons having been presented by the Grand Juries
in the Provincial and Ann Arundel County Courts for Bigamy
and for suffering a Quaker Conventicle to be kept in their
House the Justices and Officers of those Courts are at a Stand
in the Prosecution. The Laws of England providing against
those Offences seeming to them to be wholly restrained to her
Majesty's Subjects residing within the Kingdom of England
so that for want of Law in this Country those Offenders
expect to escape unpunished according to the old saying
where there is no Law there's no Offence Wherefore its
recommended to the Consideration of this General Assembly
either to declare those Laws of England reach hither for the
better Satisfaction of the several Courts of Justice or other-
wise by some good wholesome Laws to restrain the said
Offence. Signed p Order W Bladen Cl. Council.

Upon reading that Part relating to Bigamy the House
resolve that a Bill be brought in declaring that the Act of
Parliament against Bigamy has been & still is in Force within
this Province. And as to the second Branch of the said

Lib. 41.

Message relating to Quaker Conventicles this House are of
opinion that the Act for Religion has sufficiently provided
that they are punishable according to the Act of Parliament
in that Case.
Ordered a Message be drawn up and sent to the Governor
& Council in Answer to their Message.
Bill for Advancement of Trade &ca Read second Time with
Amendment and do pass.
Sent up to the Council for their Concurrence by Mr William
Frisby, Mr Robt Tyler, Mr William Watts, Mr Francis Dalla-
hyde, Mr John Macclaster & Mr Joseph Ennalls Mr John Jones
& Mr Gerrard Fowlke. They return and say they delivered
the Bill.
Mr Samuel Young, Mr Robert Skinner, and Mr John Leach
ordered to attend the Council with Mr Plater Navall Officer
for Patuxent District to see him prove his Acots
They return and say they have seen it done.
