The Lower House. 593


Jenkins enters the House and delivers Mr Speaker a Message
relating to some Persons presented by Grand Juries with a
Book of the late Acts of Parliamt Referred till Afternoon.
The House adjourns till two o' Clock

Post Meridiem. The House met again according Adjourn-
ment and present as in the Morning.
Bill for Advancement of Trade &ca Read again and com-
mitted for Amendments. Delivered the Committee of Laws

The House adjourns till to Morrow Morning Eight O'Clock

Saturday April 13th 1 706.

The House met again according to Adjournment.
Being called over were present as yesterday.
Bill for ascertaining the Navigation of open Sloops & Shal-
lops &ca Read the first and second Time and ordered by the
House to be thus indorsed.

By the House of Delegates April 13th 1706.

This Bill being read in the House will pass with Amendmt
of lessening the Security to 50lb Sterling

Sent up to his Excellency & Council p Mr James Hay and
Mr Joseph Gray. They return and say they delivered the


same.
Colo William Holland and Capt. Richard Smith pursuant to
an Order of this House attended and being called in. The
Petition of Capt. Richard Smith was read and attended and
being called in. The Petition of Capt. Richard Smith was
read and Colo Holland's Answer to the same and both Parties
being called having offered what they had to say are ordered
to withdraw. Upon Consideration of the House of the
Premises 'tis thought fit that a Committee be sent out to
enquire into the Premises and make Report &ca to the Houso.
Colo John Contee, Mr John Mackall, Mr John Leach, Major
Nicholas Lowe and Mr Hugh Eccleston are appointed a Com-
mittee and ordered to go out and enquire in the matter con-
tained in the Petition and to certify and make Report to the
House their opinion in that Matter. The Gentlemen being
again called in, Mr Speaker informs them that a Committee is
appointed to sit at the George where they must give their
Attendance.
