Post Meridiem.

The House met again. Being called over were all present
as in the morning

p. 69

Mr Watts of Saint Mary's County enters the House and
took his place.
Colo Smithson's Letter read and his Excellency and Coun-
cil's Message thereupon Read as follows.

By the Governor and Council in Assembly
April 8th 1706

Gent. Herewith is sent you Colo Smithson's Letter to his
Excellency which is referred to your Consideration. If you
think fit to gratify the said Smithson, but it must not be out
of the Revenue of the Free School that Law being sanc-
tioned in England

Upon reading thereof it's resolved the following Message
be sent to the Council in Answer Viz.

By the House of Delegates April 10th 1706.

In Answer to your Excy & Honrs Message of the 8th In-
stant relating to some Gratification to be made Colo Smithson
this House having considered it is not long since A Gratifi-
cation was made to the said Colo Smithson of fifty Pounds for
his Services to the Country and they are of Opinion that that
Gentleman's Services to the Country are not so very emi-
nent above all others as to deserve a Distinguishment by
way of Reward

The Petition of Mrs Margt Dorsey brought into the House
and ordered to be read and entered as follows.

To the Honble House of Delegates

The Petition of Marg' Dorsey Exx of Colo Edward Dorsey
deceased.

Your Petitionr humbly conceiving That in Right of her
Executrixship the Rent now due for the House your Honours
now sit in is due to her being twenty Pounds Sterling which
she humbly prays may be allowed.

And your Petitioner shall pray.
