Monday September 18th 1704 Present as on Saturday

At the Request of Sr Thomas Lawrence Baronett principal
Secretary of this Province who claims publick tobacco in the
hands of Mr Vincent Hemsley late high Sheriff of Talbott
County and is by the said Hemsley refused to be paid the
said Mr Hemsley' s Bond for the due pformance of his Sheriff's
office is by his Excy and this Board on the behalf of her
Majesty assigned over unto the said Sr Thomas Lawrence by
him to be sued for the Recovery of the sd Tobacco.
Mr Henry Coursey Mr William Frisby and Mr John Taylor
bring from the House the following Bills.
A Bill for quieting Possessions Enrolling Conveyances &c
A Bill declaring the Grantees of Land Lying within the
Indians' Land may have Action of Trespass against such psons
as carry away Timber &c
A Bill for advancement of natives and Residents
A Bill prohibiting commissioners Sherrs &c to plead as At-
torneys &c
A Bill ascertaining the Expences of the Delegates
A Bill for the preservation of the several harbours
A Bill Confirming all Proceedings at Law since the Death
of Governour Copley to this Time
A Bill for killing Wolves and Crows
A Bill for publication of Marriages
A Bill relating to the standard of English weights and
Measures
A Bill against excessive usury
A Bill to enable Col Edward Dorsey to sell Lands in An-
napolis
A Bill Impowering William Sweatnam to Sell Lands
Which several Bills were read and with the sevt Endorse-
ments sent down to the House by Mr Cheseldyn & Mr Coursey
The following bills which were brought from the house on
Fryday last by Mr Skinner and other two members of the
house viz.
A Bill prohibiting the importation of Bread flower Beer &c
from Pensilvania
A Bill prohibiting Masters of Ships and others from trans-
porting away any psons without passes
A Bill for causing Grand and petite Jurors and witnesses to
come to the Provincial and County Courts
A Bill declaring how Fees for Naturalizations and other
private Bills shall be proportioned
A Bill to Encourage the Inhabitants of this Province to
adventure their Ships more freely abroad &c.
A Bill ascertaining the Gauge of tobacco Hhds
A Bill for appointing Court Days
