58 Assembly Proceedings, Sept. 5-Oct. 3, 1704.

Journal.

Were read and with the Several Endorsements sent to the
House by Col Lloyd and Mr Coursey
Major Greenberry & Mr Hill from the House to see Mr
Plater sworn to his Naval Officers accompts who accordingly
made oath thereunto
The Board adjourned to three of the Clock

Post Meridiem Council Sate Present as before

Mr Gerard Foulke from the House acquaints his Excy that
the Sheriffs of Kent Charles and Talbot Countys have neg-
lected to return their Lists of TaAables and therefore prays
that his Excy would be pleased to send Expresses therefore
and Command the Sheriffs afd immediately to appear and
answer their Contempt
Came Mr Hodson and Mr Jones and brought from the
House the following Bills viz'
A Bill for laying an Impost on Rum Wine Spiritts and
Brandy from Pensilvania by or over Land
A Bill declaring the Division of Several Countys to be firm
and stable
A Bill for Settling an Annual Revenue on her Majesties
Governour
A Bill for causing Grand and petite Jurors to come to
Courts &c.
A Bill confirming the three pence p Tonn to the Governour
A Bill for quieting Possessions Enrolling Conveyances &c.
A Bill for laying an Imposition on Several Commodities
transported
Which bills were read the second time at the board and will
pass
Mr Skinner and Mr Leech bring from the house a Bill ap-
pointing Court Days &c.
A Bill prohibiting the Importation of Bread Beer Flower
&c from Pensilvania
A Bill prohibiting Masters of Ships &c from conveying Per-
sons without Passes
A Bill Encouraging the Inhabitants of this Province to
adventure their Ships &c.
A Bill declaring how fees for naturalization and other private
Laws shall be proportioned
A Bill proportioning the Gauge of tobacco H:hds.
The above thirteen Bills brought by Mr Hodson and Capt
Jones Mr Skinner and Mr Leech being read the second time
at this Board are sent down to the House by Mr Smith Col
Hammond Mr Cheseldyne and Mr Coursey
