Mr Robert Gouldsborough being heard in favour of the
Petition of the Vestry of St Michaels Parish in Talbot County
and Solomon Jones's Will appearing to be altogether insuffi-
cient to make any Estate or Dispose the Land to the uses
therein mentiond the Bill is rejected and the partys left to the
Comon Law.
Came Mr Greenfield Major Lowe & Mr Tyler to present
Mr Robert Bradley a new Elected member for Prince Georges
County to be Sworne who had the usuall Oaths Administred
according to Law and Sign'd the Test & Oath of Abjuration
The Councill adjourns to Eight of the Clock to morrow
morning

The Petition of the Roman Catholicks read as followeth
Viz. To his Exncy the Governour & Councill in Assembly
The humble Petition of her Majestys Dutifull & Loyall Ro-
man Catholiq Subjects of Maryland

Original
Journal.

Sheweth. That the said Roman Catholicks preferr'd an
humble Peticon at the Beginning of this Sessions praying that
there might be a farther Suspension of the Act Intituled An
Act to prevent the Growth of Popery by which they Conceiv'd
themselves under Some hardships untill her Majestys Pleasure
should be knowne in relation to what her gracious Intensions
may be towards them in this Plantation.
That they understand some Expressions in their said Peti-
tion have (contrary to their designe) given Offence so as to
be a means of hindring their Relief humbly pray'd for
That the giving offence in the least Manner cither to her
Majesty (by whose Royall pleasure only they must stand or
ffall in that Matter) or to the Governmt here Establish'd under
her is a thing they allways have & shall with their utmost
industry avoid being as sensible as any her other Subjects of
the Happiness they enjoy under the Clemency of her mild &
glorious Reigne also hoping that while the Generall blessings
that at this Juncture attend her unparallell'd Undertakings
make not only her owne Subjects but most of the Christian
World rejoyce her said Roman Catholiq Subjects under yor
Exncys prudent Government may not by lying under Hardships
in religious Matters till her Majesty Signifys her Pleasure be

Depriv'd of sharing the generall Satisfaction which by yor
Exncys & Councills concurrence to an Act for the further Sus-
pending the said Law till then they shall fully partake of
And therefore they humbly pray yor Exncy & Councills Con-
currence thereto & they as in Duty bound shall pray.
