Journal.

Continue their Garison till the Articles of Peace are Con-
cluded on and Ratifyed and Confirmed between the Indians
& us.
Came Mr John Dorsey with Capt John Young in pursuance
of a Sumons from this Board and an Oath being Administred
to the said Capt Young to declare the Truth Concerning
what he heard of the Magazine being besett saith, That since
they were appointed to Guard the Magazine Mr Dorsey &
he walking together on the Green in the evening, Mr Dorsey
said we ought to be very watchful to night Mr Young asking
the Reason for it sayd Dorsey answered that he was credibly
Informed the Magazine was threatned Either that night or
the night following. Young asked him who told him so Mr
Dorsey said he was told by no worse man than Majr Green-
berry Mr Young said he wondred he did not tell his Exncy
Dorsey said he would not for tenn pounds he should gett the
Majors ill will, Dorsey said if he thought there was any truth
in it, he would have told himselfe.
An Oath being likewise Administred to Mr Dorsey he
Declares That since the men were Appointed to guard the
Magazine and Prison he happen'd to meet Majr Greenberry
at Mr Ritchmans, Majr Greenberry said he was going home
that night he had some discourse of his going over the Ferry
and the Wind Blowing He said Brother Dorsey I would
Advise you to be Carefull of the Magazine for said he I have
heard a Story It was threaten'd either That night or the
night following.
He had no further discourse with him at that time but
Comunicated it to Mr Young.
The said Mr Dorsey being Ask'd in what manner Major
Greenberry told him it whether as an Officer or as a friend
says he thinks as a friend
The said Mr Dorsey be likewise ask'd why he said he
would not have his Exncy know it for ten pounds says because
Major Greenberry was his Good Friend and he was afraid
his Exncy should be displeased that it was done in that manner
to the Guard and further saith not.
The Sherriffe of Ann Arundell County According to Ordr
brought here the body of John Dawlin who being demanded
to Declare the Truth of his Knowledge relating to Ben: Ce-
lies breaking Prison & the Smiths Assisting him & what he
knows In relation to M" Rachell Freeborne & in order thereto
having an Oath Administred to him Declares that his Mrs
(Rachel Freeborne) that night he tooke Benjn Celie was very
angry at him & said Ratt you for a Whelp how came you to be
so much of a man as to take Celie up It's well yor Master keeps
such a peel of Whelps to take up men, It's better an hundred
