Freeborne saith that a Fortnight or three Weeks before Mr
Benjn Cellie Broke prison Mrs Rachel Freeborne his Mistress
Came down to the Shopp and said It was a pitty such a man
as Celie should lye In prison and Bad him Assist and gett
him Out he says he never saw her in the Shopp before but
afterwards Came down with Mr Greenberry and urged him to
help Celie out. Owns that he did lay the file in the prison
Window his Mistress said she doubted not to find out Richard
Clarke if Celie was out the Smith Said if he did it should
come to great Damage and his Master would abuse him and
he should lead a life like a dogg She told him if he Could
gett Celie out they would Carry him Safe off that she herself
Intended to leave her husband and go to the New Country
he said he had no mony She bad him never mind it she
would provide for him well enough which she supposed to be
money she urged him not Long before to Sett the Mill on fire
if not by day in the night he further says that when Richard
Clarke was in Prison his Mistress before him Wished he was
out of Prison for she was afraid he would be hanged and
does Verily believe by what she urged him to do for Celie,
She thereby hoped to gett him to Assist him out of prison he
says that his Said Mrs said that a ffile would gett of his Irons
and then he would gett out of prison well enough, he like-
wise says his Master Thomas Freeborne is a very honest man
and that when Clarke Came to the house he would gett out
of his Company as soon as he Could and go to bed and leave
him
The said Humphery is Ordered to wth Draw

Came Mr Muschamp and three other Members with the
two following Messages viz.

By the house of Dellegates May 21st 1705

May it please Your Exncy

This house propose it to be the Consideration of Your
Exncy and her Matys honble Councill as an Expedient for our
future Quiett that Your Exncy Comissionate such psons as
many as in Your Wisdom shall seem fitt to Treat with & Re-
new our former Alliances & Friendshipp with the Seneca and
other Indians on the Western Shore and to use the Best
Methods they Can think on to discover the Murtherers of our
fellow Subjects this being the Most Easy and Ready Method
we Cann think of and therefore we pray Your Excellancys
Concurrence herein &c
