the house pray the Concurrence of his Exncy the Governour
and the honble Board to their Resolve Which is agreed to by
the Board.
Mr Goldsborough and Three other Members bring from the
house as followeth, Viz.

By the house of Delegates May 21st 1705

May it please Your Exncy

In Answer to the Message relating to the Libel this house
Resolves that the Charging Your Exncy with any Confederacy
or being Ruled or prevailed on by Coll Darnall or any other
Papists whatsoever is a most pnicious Scandalous and Sedi-
tious Libel Tending to the Destruction of her Matys Governmt
here and is a great Scandal to your Exncys Fame & Reputation
this house being very sensible of the Bill agtthe Popish
Religion and also that Bill to Indulge them or to Suspend the
Prosecution of the former Bill began both in this house and
were sent from us to your Exncy and the honble her Majestys
Councill for your Concurrence and Assent thereunto and we
do pray your Exncy to be Assured from us that wee will omitt
nothing that may be fitt or proper for us to do to protect &
Assert her Matys Governmt and your Exncys Justice and Inno-
cence in this Matter and to Shew our utmost Resentments
agt Such pestilent Disturbances of the Government and Bring-
ing them to Condigne Punishment

Capt Jones Brings from the house a Bill for Making Valid
a letter of Attorney from Wm Josephs Esqr to Wm Josephs his
son which was Read and Assented to the 2d time

The Sherriffe of Ann Arundell County in pursuance of an
Order of this Board to him directly brought before his Exncy
and this Board Rachel the wife of Thomas Freeborne Who
being Accused of being an Accessary in letting Benjamine
Celie out of Prison denys having any thing to do with Benj:
Celie further than Sending him something for his Flux & 18d
to buy wine and one Shilling she left for him at the Gate house
and that She never Induced the Smith to be Aiding or Assisting
to lett the said Celie out of Prison

But the Board being very sencible what a pernitious Instru-
ment she has been in this Matter and that she did hire and
Induce the Smith to give a file to Benjn Celie wherewith he
and the Indian filed of their Irons and thereby made way for
the said Celie then Comitted as an Abettor to her son Richard
Clarke in his Treasonable practices to make his Escape and
