1i. And first as to the Act prohibiting the Importation of
bread Bear Flower & Grain from Pensilvania & other parts
of America whether it be in the Legislative Power of this
Province so to do or any otherwise prohibitt trade and if it
were not better to lay a Severe duty thereon which might
serve for a Prohibition
2. That as to the Act obliging Masters of Shipps to pub-
lish their Freight before they take tobacco on board It is not
so well worded and ascertained by saying their Certain
ffreight to answer the Intent of the Makers but only serves
to amuse the Merchants at home
3. The Act for laying a Duty of 9d p Gall on Rum &c
from Pensilvania has not appointed proper Officers forgather-
ing the sayd Impost nor has it given any Power to seize them
in the night time

Mr Mackall and Mr Dollahyde bring up the following Bills
being these lately burnt in the Court House & now Engrossed
assented to by the House Viz.
An Act for Limitation of Officers Fees
An Act for Ordering and regulating the Militia &c
An Act for preserving harbours &c. An Act for Ad-
vancemt of the Natives &c
An Act Declaring the Devision of the Countys to be firm
& Stable &c An Act causing Jurrors &c to Come to the
Provinciall and County Courts
An Act for payment of Fees due from Criminalls
An Act declaring several Laws in force heretofore made.
The said Engrossed Bills were assented to and sent to the
House by Mr Tench & Mr Sanders. Who had orders to ac-
quaint the House that His Exncy had agreed with Mr Evan
Jones of this Towne a Sober Person to looke after the Pub-
lique Buildings at the Rate of tenn pounds p annum.
Ordered that the Ministers & Readers of every Parish
send an exact List of the parochiall Librarys to his Exncy at-
tested by the Vestry.
Mr Taylor and three other members with the Roman Cath-
olique Remonstrance and the houses answer which was en-
dorsed as followeth
