Mr Iames Hay A member for St. Marys Citty Mr Nico Lowe
A member for Talbot County and Mr Hugh Eccleston for
Dorchester County enters the house.
Orderd that Mr Wm Aisquith and Mr Peter Watts Attend
them to see them sworne in Councll
They returne and say they have seen them sworne signe
the test & oath of Abjuration
Then was read what was done Yesterday.
The house now proceed to debate the following Article.
11 Article for encouragemt of Importacon of rum &c.
being read.
Its resolvd by the house that its proper to give encouragem'
as proposd by this Article by Exempting the inhabitants of
this province (who shall buy or build Vessells) from some
duty's as others are lyable to Vizt
1. Resolved the inhabitants be exempted from 3d p Gallon
2. That they be exempt from the duty upon negroes and
White Servants
3d And that All such Shipps & Vessells belonging to the
inhabitants shall pay but 1/2 Officers fees as others doe.
12. That A law be made for preventing the importacon of
rum bread beer Flower &c. by land being debated.
Resolved by the house that beer bread English and Indian
Graine horses Mares & tobacco be totally prohibited to con-
tinue for three yeares.
Likewise Resolvd that A duty be layd upon rume Spirritts
wine and brandy.
Put to the Vote whither the duty shalbe Six pence or Nine
pence Sterling p Gallon
Carryd by Majority of Voices that it be 9d p Gallon
And resolvd that all duty's on pensilvania Comodity's shall
be paid in the Currant money of this province And that the
navall officers shalbe oblidg'd to receive the same in ready
money And that the Navall Officers take An oath to see this
law put in Execution
13. Relating to the Piscattaway and Accokick Indians was
read, And the house finding this Article wholly to relate to
his Excy the Governr Therefore his Excy is desird to take such
measures therein as he shall thinke most proper to bring the
said Indians to payment of their tribute And to know What
their Alliances are.
The other Articles are referrd to A further consideration
Proposed by A member whither it be not Convenient tc
make A law for encouragemt of tillage
Debated but referrd to A further Consideracon
The honob Robert Smith Esqr & Iohn Hamond Esqr enters
the house and delivers Mr Speaker the following mess
