Orderd that the message for revising the laws be prepard
against the morning which follows Vizt

By the house of Delegates Septr 6th 1704
Upon reading and debating the laws This house Nemine

Contradicentc Resolves It is Absolutely necessary that the

whole body of the laws be revis'd and that it be now done Ac-
cordingly. If therefore Your Excy and Councill have any thing
to offer on this Subject this house is ready to receive it

The honoble Thomas Tench and Robert Smith Esqrs from
the Councill enters the house and delivers Mr Speaker the
following Message

By his Excy the Governt & Councill in Assembly
Septr 6. 1704.

Gent Whereas his Excy is inform'd that one Edward Hilhard
had Without any Authority from his Excy or this board made
use of his Excys name to require three of the houses members
to Come from the house before his Excy the Governr and
Councill Gent Wee doe assure you that the said Hilhard did
the same of his owne head And that his Excy the Governr and
this board did not ever in the least Give any such directions
but will Allways be very tender of the rights and privileidges
of the house of Delegates And therefore take this occasion to
prevent any Misapprehensions.

Which being read in the house It is Resolved the same be
Answerrd in the Morning.

The house Adjourns till to morrow morn Eight A Clock.

Thursday Septr 7th 1704

The house mett againe and being All calld over were pre-
sent as Yesterday.

Mr Gerrard Fowlke a member for Charles County enters
the house and its Orderd that Coll Iames Smallwood goe with
him to his Excy to see him sworne.

He returnes and says he saw him take the oaths According
to Act of parliament and signe the test and oath of Abjuracon
