Upon reading and debating the laws This house Nemine

Contradicentc Resolves It is Absolutely necessary that the

whole body of the laws be revis'd and that it be now done Ac-
cordingly. If therefore Your Ex^cy and Councill have any thing
to offer on this Subject this house is ready to receive it

The honoble Thomas Tench and Robert Smith Esq^rs from
the Councill enters the house and delivers M^r Speaker the
following Message

By his Ex^cy the Govern^t & Councill in Assembly
Sept^r 6. 1704.

Gent Whereas his Ex^cy is inform'd that one Edward Hilhard
had Without any Authority from his Ex^cy or this board made
use of his Ex^cys name to require three of the houses members
to Come from the house before his Ex^cy the Govern^r and
Councill Gent Wee doe assure you that the said Hilhard did
the same of his owne head And that his Ex^cy the Govern^r and
this board did not ever in the least Give any such directions
but will Allways be very tender of the rights and privileidges
of the house of Delegates And therefore take this occasion to
prevent any Misapprehensions.

Thursday Sept^r 7^th 1704

The house mett againe and being All calld over were pre-
sent as Yesterday.

M^r Gerrard Fowlke a member for Charles County enters
the house and its Orderd that Coll Iames Smallwood goe with
him to his Ex^cy to see him sworne.

He returnes and says he saw him take the oaths According
to Act of parliament and signe the test and oath of Abjuracon
