Gent As I am a Very plain dealer I would not have my
Sincerity mistaken nor my Good intentions for Your Service
interpreted designing for I as much despise that or flattery as
You can abominate double dealing.
Therefore I Againe recofnend the honour and tranquillity
of Your Country togeather with her Majestys Jnstruccons to
your Consideration that the Unanimity of Your Councills may
demonstrate your steddy Loyalty to her Majestys Government
And the good Wholsome laws Enact'd this Sessions may As-
sure the whole world of Your prudent hearty concurrence in
this Criticall Juncture.
Gent J will never determine any thing of moment without
laying it before her Majts honol Councill here for their Advice
and decision I think my self oblidgd in honour and Conscience
to lett the representatives of this Province know from time to
time whatever is design'd or carry'd on against the true in-

the project ought to be made publiq till I have the true Ac-
count of the Whole contrivance by an Authority we must All
rely on in the interim cannot doubt but You will think of some
propper Methods to Obviate any Clandestine Machination

If Your interest and fortunes become soe precarious to be
at the disposall of an Jll Naturd neighbourhood Without Your
Approbation or consent lay it not at my doore, since I have
done the duty of your friend and Governour truely to Adver-

being independant from everything but England, And as noth-
ing sure cann be so deare to mankind as to lett the lasting
ornaments of Wise industrious progenitors be transmitted to
posterrity all prejudiciall Jnnovacons ought to be Avoided
with care And resolution
And, Since A devine providence has in A good measure
Established Christianity here I cannot but take notice that the
many Domestick Imorallity's within this province are great
Scandall to the Religion wee profess And at this day You and
our European friends are at such a Vast expence to Maintayne,
There are others who bid defyance to all Magistracy and laws
which I hope will Awaken you to Amend what is defective in
order to suppress these Unwarrantable practises Scarce ever
heard of in Civillizd Country's for if Your laws allready made
are of force to Curb these disorders Its A Very Great omis-
