                  84    Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1700.

              

           Lib. X.  Monday next to treat with his Excellency & renew their

           p. 231  Articles of peace & Amity & thereupon this Board do desire

                   his Excellency will treat with them & leave the whole Man

                   aging thereof to his Excellency & the Gentlemen of the

                   Council next adjacent advising withal that the Indians be told

                   to come in & live upon their Land there & that if they will

                   give Assurance of their fidelity they Carry some of the english

                   along with them to Rock Creek to see their Fort demolished

                   there.

                    Mr John Danzey having produced a Commission from the

                   honble his Majestys Commsrs of the Customs to be Collector

                   of Potomack & the oaths appointed by Act of Parliament

                   instead of the oaths of Allegiance & Supremacy Administred

                   to him as likewise the oath appointed by the act of the 7th &

                   8th Years of his present Majestys Reign entituled an act for

                   preventing frauds & Regulating Abuses in the plantation

                   trade which he took & likewise subscribed the Test & Asso

                   ciation Given Bond in England for the faithful Execution

                   of his Office

                    Then was produced & read a Commission from the honble

                   the Commsrs of the customs to Wm Bladen to be Surveyor

                   of the Port of Annapolis whereupon the Aforesaid Oaths were

                   administred which he took & Also Subscribed the Test &

                   Association & entred into Bond with the honble Thomas

                   Tench Esqr & Major William Dent his security for the faith

                   ful Execution of his said Office

                    Ordered that Geo Plater & Geo Muschamp Esqrs his

                   Majestys Receivers take care for the future to receive the

           p. 232  Duty of 3d for Arms & that their Accots of the Revenue be

                   always sworn to before this Board before they transmit them

                   for England

                    His Excellency is pleased to ask the Board if they have

                   any thing further at present to propose for his Majestys Ser

                   vice who say not.

               

              

                       Port of Annapolis April 8th 1700

                    At a meeting of his Excellency the Governor &Ca with the

                   Emperor of Piscattoway and other Indians

                                       Present.
