remote that they cannot well be called together in a short Lib. X. time 2dIy That this being a matter of great & weighty momt which may have Influences on the Courts of Law & Justice within this Province in their Judgments and Proceedings it would be for his Majestys Service & the Great Benefit of the Province to defer the publishing of such proclamation until the meeting of the General Assembly That this being so publick a concern wherein his most Sacred Majesty & his good Subjects of this Province are so nearly interested it is absolutely necessary that the General Assembly should be consulted therein which at present is much facilitated by the nearness of their meeting to wit the 26th Instant to which day they Stand Prorogued His Excy is pleased further to ask the advice of the Gen tlemen present whether in regard he has rec'd no late Com mands from his most sacred Majesty or from the right Honble the Lords of the Council for trade & Foreigne Plantations the meeting of the Assembly should not be further deferred & put of in expectation of some of his Majestys Royal Com mands which may be sent him or other directions from the right honble their Ldshps the Commsrs of Trade & Foreign p. 230 Plantations. Whereto this Board do advise & give their Opinions that forasmuch as no other Ships are expected to arrive here until October next by which such Letters might be expected Cap tain Harbin who is now Come in being the last the meeting of the Assembly should be no further deferred but that it is most absolutely necessary they should sitt upon the 26th Inst according to Prorogation His Excellency represents to the Board that the last year 1699 finding that Colonel Nicholson his Predecessor had for some time received the 3d p hhd given by his Majesty to the Country for purchasing Arms &ca he also had received the said Duty for that year but that he was resolved since he understood his Majestys Receivers Geo Plater & Geo Mus champ Esqr were thereunto appointed & Commissionated he would no longer Act or meddle therein His Excellency informs them that he had advanced & lent the Country two hundred pounds Sterl which he had sent to Collo Addison to pay & Subsist the Rangers on the falls of Potomack who were in great want thereof and could not have had that money without the meeting of the Committee which would have been a great charge to the Country His Excellency further gives them to understand that he is informed by Mr Hermage Robinson an Indian Trader that the Emperor of Piscattoway & his Indians will Come to Town on
