     of the fine on the said Pope be Suspended until this matter   Lib. X.

     be further understood

       Read a Letter to his Excellency from the honble Collo John

     Courts with two depositions against Willm Hunter Iesuit

     relating to his endeavouring to seduce her Majestys good

     Subjects in this Province from the Protestant Faith

       Ordered that Mr Atty General prosecute the said Hunter

     according to Law & that this matter be laid before the next

     Assembly

       Moved by Mr Atty General that whereas Mr Robt Goulds

     borrough was appointed of his Majestys Council at Law in

     his late Excellency Governor Nicholsons time by which he

     reaps no Profit but is thereby hindred from embracing many

     profitable causes to his Great Loss and Prejudice therefore

     he humbly prays to be discharged from that Employ

       The said motion being taken into Consideration & how

     faithfully the said Mr Gouldsborrough had discharged his

     Trust therein for his Majestys Service & that he had never

     been allowed any Sallary or Gratuity there for Upon his appli-  p. 220

     cation he is dismissed

       Whereas W John Cood of St Marys County hath been

     in Town these two days pretending to surrender himself to

     Justice but has delayed so to do Neither has he given security

     to the Sheriff of St Marys County for his appearing & answer

     ing to what is objecting against him in the Provincial Count

     on his Majestys Behalf

       Ordered that the Sheriff of Ann Arundel County take the

     said Mr John Cood into his custody & bring him before the

     Justices of his Majestys Provincial Court to be dealt with

     according to Law

       It being Represented at the Board that Lieut Collo John

     Bigger had refused to act as a Justice of the Provincial Court

     he is not thought worthy of being chief Justice of Calvert

     County or serving in any other Commission in this Government

       Advised that Majr Walter Smith be appointed chief Judge

     of Calvert County Court

    

    

    

       At a Council held at the House of Mr John Larkin at the

     Ridge in Ann Arundel County June the 13th 1699
