     There is Two Shells one is fixed for Service and the other

    hath onely a fuse in it so you may pull them out and See

    how to fix them but the fusees must be cutt of the Same

    length as those tht are in the Shells and when you fix them

    you must fitt your fusees very well to the hole of the Shell as

    you see by this that is sent you you must lett your fuse be

    driven in a little tite with a Small Mallod and then it will not

    blow out with the blast of the Morter and when you Load

    your morter putt the shell in after the powder without any

    thing of Wadding and lett the fuse lye to the Music of the

    Morter and take Some meale powder and put in the head of

    the fuse and there you may fire the Morter piece Safely

     Your Morter piece Should lye att 45 Degrees or as near

    to that as you Can when you fire it by the reason it is the

    least straine to her and will throw furthest

     Your Composition for fuzees and true proportionabie

    quantities is

              Meale powder       3 l— 1/4

              Salt peter         2

              Sulpher            1

   

     You must fill your shells with fine powder
