          Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1730. 531

     Sheweth                                     Lib. M.

      That some Persons have obtained special Warrants to

     take up vacant cultivated Lands, and under Colour

     thereof (unknown to your Remonstrant) have had sur

     veyed and laid out for them lands heretofore leased by his

     Lordships Agent unto Tenants as a Part, and deemed to be

     Part of his Lordships Mannors alledging the same Lands to

     be without the Lines of these Mannors; Notwithstanding the

     said Lands have been already leased and occupied by the

     Lessees as Part of those Mannors. Whereupon he humbly

     prays the Advice of this Honourable Board thereon.

      The Consideration of the above Remonstrance is deferred

     for a Day or two.

    

    

    

    

      At a Council held in the Council Room on Saturday the p. 33

     23d Day of May in the sixteenth Year of his Lordships Domin

     ion &c Annoq Domini, 1730

      Coll Wm Holland Benjamin Tasker Esqr

      Honourable Philemon Lloyd Esqr Philip Lee Esqr

    

             Coll Rd Tilghman

           Members of His Ldps Honourable Council

      The Vestrymen of Great Choptank Parish in Dorchester

     County appear at this Board and produce several Papers to

     shew that the Chappel intended to be built within the said

     Parish is designed to be Built by a Voluntary Subscription of

     the Parishioners; and that the Desire of the Subscribers to

     the Vestry to agree with a Workman and inspect the Work,

     is not to them as a Body but as private Persons.

      The Petition of many the Inhabitants of Great Choptank

     Parish in Dorchester County exhibited to this Board on 8th

     Instant is rejected

      It is the Opinion of this Board that Vestrys have no Power

     to appoint Places for the building Churches or Chappels

     without due application

    

    

    

      At a Council held in the Council Room on Friday the fifth

     Day of June in the sixteenth Year of His Lordships Domin
