    by these Presents give and grant unto You the said John Ross Lib. M.

    the Office of Clerk to Our Governor and Council of Maryland

    hereby appointing authorizing & impowering you to have

    hold exercise, use and enjoy the said Office, and to take and

    receive to your own proper Use and Behoof as well the Salary

    usually allowed as also all and singular other the Rights Prof

    its Benefits Perquisites and Advantages thereto belonging or

    in any wise appertaining in as ample manner as any of the

    Clerks to Our said Govr and Council have used To have hold

    exercise receive and enjoy the same for and during Our

    Good Will and Pleasure Witness Our Dear Brother Bene

    dict Leonard Calvert Our Governor and Commander in Chief

    in and over Our Province of Maryland this 11th Day of Feb

    ruary in the fourteenth Year of Our Dominion Annoq Domini

      His Excellency the Governor acquaints this Board that p.

    having lately received some Add' Instructions from His

    Majesty desires the Opinion of this Board what may be most

    expedient to be done therein, which Instructions are in the

    following Words Viz.

      “Additional Instruction to Our Right Trusty and Wel

    “beloved Charles Lord Baltimore, of Our Kingdom of Ire-

    “land Proprietor and Governor of Our Province of Maryland

    “in America, And in his Absence to the Commander in

    “Chief of the said Province for the time being. Given at

    “Our Court of Richmond the 18th Day of June 1728 in the

    “second Year of Our Reign.

      Whereas We were pleased by Our Order in Council of the

    15th Day of June 1727, a Copy whereof is hereunto annexed,

    to declare Our Royal Pleasure that in all the Prayers, Litanies

    and Collects for the Royal Family, instead of the Words [His

    Royal Highness George Prince of Wales the Princess and

    their Issue and all the Royal Family] there should be inserted

    [Our Gracious Queen Caroline, the Royal Issue and the rest

    of the Royal Family] And whereas the same hath not been

    hitherto signifyed to the Governors of Our Plantations in

    America; Our Royal Will and Pleasure is, That in all the

    Prayers Litanies and Collects for the Royal Family, to be

    used within Our Province of Maryland, under your Govern

    ment, instead of the Words [His Royal Highness George

    Prince of Wales, the Princess and their Issue and all the

    Royal Family] be inserted [Our Gracious Queen Caroline
