                 498 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1728.

            

             Lib. x.   him by the due and known Course of the Common Law and

                 to rely on the Statutes already mentioned and the Common

                 Right he has as a free born Subject of Great Britain in bar of

             p. 211    any further proceeding on the said Representation and hum

                 bly prays to be Dismist from the same

                   After which Mr Edmund Ienings and Mr Joshua George of

                 Council for the Representor as also Mr William Beckingham

                 of Council for the Respondent severally take the Oath of

                 Attorney as also the Oaths to the Governmt and severally

                 subscribe the Oath of Abjuration & Test according to the

                 directions of the Act in that Case made & Provided Also

                 Philip Lee Esqr and Mr Nicholas Sewall took the Clients

                 Oath

                   Upon hearing of Council on both sides it is the Opinion

                 of this Board that the said Representation be dismissed for

                 that it does not appear that the Subject matter thereof lyes

                 before this Board

                   His Excellency is pleased to Ask the Opinion of the Board

                 what time would be most Convenient for the return of the

                 writts of Election who are of Opinion that the first Tuesday

                 in October next is the most proper time

                   To which his Excellency Concurs

               p.z At a Council held at the House of his Excellency in the

            

                 City of Annapolis on Saturday the 26th of October in the

                 Fourteenth Year of his Lordships Dominion &c Annoq Dm.

                   His Excellency lays before this Board a Seditious & Scan

                 dalous paper which he is Informed hath been Dispersed in

                 Prince Georges County Viz:

            

                   Country-Men “Tis past Doubt that the present State of

                 & ffriends “the Country might with facility be reme

                 “dy'd (that is by suing for a Tobacco Law) ‘tis Miserably
